CODA (Zoom 2011)
Drama: A Deaf girl’s struggle to fit in with her hearing family
10m 9s
Short drama (2011) about a Deaf woman’s struggle to fit in with her hearing family. During a family meal, she is left out and later, she tries to explain how she feels to her parents in sign language. When she has a hearing daughter, questions of identity re-emerge, culminating in a flashpoint at a family party. Will her parents ever understand, or will they remain worlds apart? A debut film from Deaf director Melissa Mostyn-Thomas, CODA was made as part of the BSLBT’s Zoom filmmaking scheme.
