Short drama (2026). After her mother is hospitalised, Kaavia returns to the quiet, echoing walls of her childhood home. Exhausted and raw, she discovers her mother’s cherished jar of Jaffna curry powder is completely empty—a poignant symbol of her mother's aging and hidden pain.

In an act of stubborn love, Kaavia steps into the kitchen to grind the spices herself for the very first time. As the aromatic smoke rises, past and present collide. Through British Sign Language (BSL) and spoken word, a deaf daughter and her traditional Sri Lankan mother clash over cultural divides, language barriers, and Western influences. But when a harrowing, never-before-told memory of survival in Sri Lanka is shared, the kitchen transforms into a sacred space of healing.

Can the space between generations truly close, or will it always hold a silence only love can fill? Starring Ruchika Jain and Sankeetha Gathani and written and directed by Nadia Nadarajah, a Slick Films production for LumoTV.
