LumoTV, the world’s leading sign-presented programming commissioner and streaming platform, today announces that it has struck a major content deal with ITVX that will bring over 60 hours of sign-presented programming to the streaming service from 1 November 2026.
The deal spans both scripted and unscripted titles, making a range of LumoTV programming available to ITVX audiences. All titles will feature burned-in subtitles, enabling deaf and hearing viewers alike to access the content.
The first-of-its-kind deal marks a significant step in LumoTV’s strategy to expand the reach of its content, establishing a new distribution model with ITVX and opening up further opportunities to work with broadcasters and buyers in the UK and internationally across its growing TV and film slate.
With the Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID) reporting that over 18 million people in the UK are deaf or have hearing loss, the agreement marks a further step in LumoTV’s commitment to make sign-presented programming available across a wider range of platforms, while also creating new opportunities for audiences to discover content made with the deaf community in mind.
Among the titles included in the package are Hold My Hand, the first ever British Sign Language (BSL) reality dating show and the first two series of the Fifi Garfield-hosted game show, Sign2Win. Together with the wider collection, the titles demonstrate the breadth of LumoTV’s programming available in BSL across formats and genre led content.
The deal also reflects the scope for broadcasters and streaming platforms to work with specialist content providers in flexible ways to respond to audience needs and the evolving accessibility landscape. It also builds on LumoTV’s 91% Mandate campaign, with research highlighting that 91% of deaf viewers prefer programmes presented directly in sign language. By bringing more than 60 hours of sign-presented programming to ITVX, the partnership demonstrates how mainstream platforms can respond to this audience demand – ensuring that programmes created and presented in BSL sit alongside sign-translated content and are available for audiences to discover and enjoy.
Jennifer Clarke, Distribution Manager, LumoTV says: “This agreement with ITVX is a watershed moment for LumoTV and the community we serve, and an important opportunity to bring our programming to a wider audience. While we want to champion deaf stories and experiences, the themes, stories and formats are there for everyone to enjoy and connect with. We’re proud of the quality, ambition and range of the package - this deal demonstrates how partnerships with broadcasters and streamers can open up exciting new opportunities for sign-presented content and the audiences who want to see more of it.”
Darren Nartey, Head of Content Acquisitions, ITV said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with LumoTV to bring this fantastic collection of British Sign Language programming to ITVX. We want ITVX to be a place where everyone can discover and enjoy great content, and this partnership is another important step in broadening the range of stories and voices available on the service. From entertainment and reality to scripted programming, this collection offers something for everyone, and we’re excited to introduce these programmes to an even wider audience.”
The first titles will be available on ITVX from 1 November 2026 in the UK.
